Questions & Answers | Player & Host Rules
This page contains some of the guidelines for playing DMO. This game is intended to be a player maintained and managed game, so staff intervene in a last resort.
Avoiding trouble
The Block List option and Mute World Chat options are easily toggled. You can prevent yourself hearing a certain player speak, or just turn off worldchat completely. This is an easy way to deal with the conflict, if you choose to retaliate and it esculates into you being banned or muted by the host; do not report it to the staff.
It is your own responsibility to protect yourself against abusive players.
Information
Admins do not like to get involved in the maintainance of the game, this is meant to be a player maintained game. In the event an admin must intervene and ban a player, it is likely to be a lengthy ban for wasting our time on top of their crime.
Admin Punishment
The admins have no obligation to lift, explain, shorten or justify a punishment. Generally they will be notified of their crime if possible at the time, after then no corresspondence will be entered into. Wait until the punishment expires and avoid making the same mistake again.
The information below for player and host conduct are merely guidelines.
Host Rules
Hosting Duel Monsters Online is not a right, it is a priviledge. As a host it's your responsibility to maintain order in the server. It's up to the host to decide on the rules, punishments and filters.
However, a lack of good judgement in one of these areas can make the entire game look bad to the players, in this case a staff member may remove your hosting priviledges. Such as setting inappropriate filters or discriminating against a certain demographic.
The staff members do not wish to police the servers, please be a responsible and mature host so we can focus on updating the game.
Actions listed below are inappropriate and will usually incur a warning or an instant removal of hosting priviledges.
- Blackmailing players(Such as demanding they lose or be banned)
- Discriminating behaviour towards a single demographic(Banning female players for example)
- Randomly banning players for no reason other than amusement
- Using inappropriate images on the login message
Player Rules
- No spamming(Involves flooding messages, constantly using caps etc)
- Threatening or insulting staff members won't be tolerated(We do this for free, we don't have to put up with it)
- Attempting to use cheating devices
- Discriminating or derogetory comments(Racial or sexist comments)
